Looking your best has both social and economic benefits. When you are walking down the street, people notice you; when you are at work, you are treated as though you have more ability; you tend to do better, be promoted, earn more money …. and respect.  Good looking people get away with everything from cheating at school to avoiding speeding tickets while driving.

Now I must say that this is a rather wierd and superficial emotionally based process, but in reality it realy make a difference, so whynot use it to your best advantage. 

These are not values I teach my children, and I have many children, but being aware of these things is at least of interest, even if you don’t use this somewhat manipulative psychological process.
